You really shouldn’t miss this page. It is an archive of old print ads such as you would have encountered in any mainstream magazine between the 1930s and 1970s in the USA.  I am adding this link to my Nifty Stuff page, too, because I believe it is extremely nifty.
While I was at it, I discovered this page, “Spank While You Sell,” which examines corporal punishment as expressed via the popular medium of print advertising, mostly from the 1950s.
