DSCN1168, originally uploaded by joeldyke. Ruby was a lost, burr-ridden, and kind of pathetic little puppy. What you’re seeing there is a poor little pup who has worms, fleas, and hasn’t had a good, square meal in days. This is the animal who showed up on our back step on 7-27-08, about three months old, […]

Dog gives every indication of being just fine. Little beast sure put me through a panic this morning! Anyway, she’s outside chasing Nieve around and being her normal, perky, pesty self. Hopefully this being-just-fine thing continues, and I’m pretty sure that it will. I probably worry too much, but that’s just how I am.

When your dog steals your breakfast, which could prove toxic to her, so you have to make her barf. That sucks! This morning, I was eating my breakfast at the coffee table in the living room, because I had started to dig through some boxes of paperwork I wanted to organize, and I had it […]

So, I had the grumpies the other day because I was sick, but honestly an almost uncountable number of awesome and good things have happened in the past week and I’ve been too under the weather to post about them. I guess I should back it up to the day before Christmas Eve, when Joel […]

Sage (the standing dog with the coppery eyebrows) is Ruby’s newest and best-matched playmate. Melissa, Sage’s owner, is one of my biking buddies, and when we were cruisin’ the Cranksgiving, we were talking about how we ought to get our crazy dogs together for a puppy playdate. Since the weather was really nice today and […]

Well, we KATY-trailed it for a couple of days and got to just outside of St. Louis last night. After I get done here at the library, we’re going to the grocery store and getting back on the road-road. We had a great camping spot last night in an abandoned barn. Couldn’t hardly have been […]

IMG_3691, originally uploaded by Meetzorp. The dog and I just got back from an epic rain ramble. She’s now napping happily under the dining table, smelly, damp, and exhausted. We found and romped in the King Daddy of all puddles today. There’s essentially a crater about 6 blocks from the house, where a large building […]

IMG_3502, originally uploaded by Meetzorp. Ruby isn’t a noisy dog, nor is she rambunctious. What she is, is present. She follows me around when I’m at home, or sticks close to Joel. When we were out working in the yard on Sunday, she just hung out with us, didn’t wander very far beyond line-of-sight. Most […]

8-18-08 202, originally uploaded by Meetzorp. Man, you wouldn’t believe what a good dog Ruby is. Seriously, she’s just naturally a good little dog, and all Joel and I can do is add a little polish. She’s friendly, fairly respectful of the cats, and amazingly mellow. She’s amenable to instruction and is picking up the […]

So, today I hauled home about 70lb of old kids’ bikes for some of the neighbor kids. Granted 70lb in Roadmasters = two of them. That kind of load makes the ol’ BOB trailer awfully wobbly. I was SO glad to end that ride. Bleh. Joel and I will be going over the bikes to […]
