So, on my ride to work today a driver pulled a nasty trick which seems to be a particular Kansas City specialty.

This guy took a wrong turn…pulled in to the Community College campus off 31st Street when he probably meant to take a right on to Broadway. So, instead of cutting through campus to 33rd and coming out on to Broadway from there, he decided he’d just throw the Taurus into reverse and backtrack half a block.

I don’t know what you think, but I personally think that driving the wrong way up a street in reverse is not only dangerous, but is also completely fucking obnoxious and an indicator of bug-eyed craziness.

Fortunately for my own safety and wholeness of being, I noticed that this guy was fixin’ to do some stupid before he’d really committed to reversing his way back out on to 31st Street and so I took evasive action. I also flipped him the bird as he went whizzing backwards past me.

My analogy, though is this. Taking a wrong turn, then reversing halfway up a block in order to have another go at it is pretty much like me walking into the Men’s toilets by mistake, saying, “Oh, my bad,” then, instead of just leaving and going into the correct restroom, just deciding I might as well drop trou and piss down the floor drain.

It’s antisocial, obnoxious, stupid, and could get your ass kicked for you.

I’ve seen people in Detroit back up around corners and go in reverse up on-ramps to get off a stopped freeway.

That is seriously and truly malfunctional.

And proves that worse drivers actually do exist outside of Kansas City. They’re pretty special here, I must say!

I’m glad you were able to anticipate his stupidity before the act!

It is a very apt analogy, indeed.
